FAQs

1. What sort of things can I hire out? Anything used in the home, garden or garage. Currently in demand for hiring are chainsaws, arc welders, hedge trimmers and table saws.

2. Does it cost anything to advertise? No.

3. What geographical areas do you cover? The focus is currently in Reading, Berkshire. However anyone is welcome to advertise and hire.

4. Who is responsible for delivering the item? This is left up to the advertiser and the customer.

5. How should rental payments and deposits be made? The simplest way is for the hirer to pay the owner a cash deposit on collection that is refunded on the safe return of the item. On return the hirer will pay the rental cost in cash to the owner. Be careful of using cheques and PayPal as funds take time to clear.

6. What should I set the deposit to? Below £100, we recommend the replacement cost of the item. For higher cost items a percentage would be more realistic. Eg a deposit of £100 for a 5 yo generator originally costing £220.

7. Who is responsible for damage to the rented item or injury as result of the item's use? The Hirer is the sole custodian of the equipment or item during the period of hire or rental and therefore the sole person responsible for any damage or injury that the equipment or item could cause to the Hirer or a third party. The Owner can use this Rental Agreement for peace of mind.
